RMC in India - Pros and Cons
« on: December 05, 2015, 08:22:17 PM »
Hi all,
Has anyone used RMC (Ready Mix Concrete) for their home construction? RMC is used quite often in the west for home construction projects. In fact, according to one estimate, 60 percent of home construction/improvement projects use RMC in one form or another.

The concept hasn't been embraced as readily in India, though there are a few companies that are providing RMC. The pros appear to be:
1. Correct and Consistent mixture/mortar.
2. Reduced labor.
3. Reduction in time for construction.

Constructing in remote areas or areas where labor is difficult to organize easily, RMC can be a big plus. For larger constructions, RMC may not be a viable solution. For a small (individual) house, it may be quite beneficial.

Cons aren't quite clear at the present moment. One concern may be if the quality of the stuff will be as promised.

Any other thoughts? Any brands that anybody has dealt with in terms of RMC?
